Have you ever wondered how planes fly? So you're sitting on the nice green grass then you suddenly hear a sound like a plane, you see a big plane up in the sky and immediately think how on earth does it fly.

Thrust is the force that works against drag and moves the plane forward.   Lift is the force that is directly opposite to the weight of an airplane and holds the plane in the air. Weight brings the plane down to the ground and drag is the force that slows the plane down.

How planes get off the ground is because of thrust and lift.  Lift brings  the plane in the air and thrust moves the plane forward.  How planes stay in the air is because of lift and thrust.

How planes land is because of weight and drag.  Drag slows the plane down and weight brings the plane down.

So in conclusion it is obvious that airplanes need to have the four forces which are lift, drag, thrust and weight to fly.

High Ropes😍

As I wait silently for my group to be called to go to high ropes, I think to myself, what will it be like?  Will it be nerve wracking? Scary? Exciting?  Then I hear group two called, that's my group.

We're on our way to the shed to get our harness and helmet. Once we have got our harness and helmet on  the person who was leading it takes us through what we need to do.

It's Daisy's turn to climb and I’m on the belaying  job. I’m slightly nervous but mainly excited, especially because it's my turn next.  As I get distracted because of noises around me, I see Daisy just about to touch the ground.  I feel like a jug just about to boil because I’m so hot with nerves. Anyway, when it is just about my go I ask Tiffany if it is hard.

Ok I'm on the fifth step and I'm loving it, I’m so happy I gave it a go. But the next step is so tall it is nearly taller than me, but I still manage to climb it. Before I look I know I have made it to the top, I take a deep breath in and say “Yahoo.”

I wondered what activity was going to be next and would it be as fun as high ropes?

Halswell Quarry

I think there's a  lot  of cool  things and stories about  Halswell Quarry.  If I had to choose one thing that wowed me it was the volcanic rock. I must say it is very big.

I ❤️ this photo because there is different types of rocks on the same rock and it used to be a volcano. I learnt that this rock has been around for millions of years which  is a very long time.

Fat man doing ballet

Hello my name is Roger.  If there is something you would like to know about me just ask, actually I think I would rather tell you myself. So everybody says that I’m fat because when I go shopping I have to buy an xr xr xr xr xr large t-shirt.  I am addicted to ballet I just can't stop thinking about it. I love the pretty pink tutu that I get. I have a friend could Hammy and he does yoga. The yoga and ballet school are beside each other so we bike there all the time together.

When I do ballet I always do a smelly fart and pretend that it was somebody else. When  I am at home I invite my friend Hammey over.  Most of the time we go to the dairy to pick lollies out and spend about $8.  We eat them all in one gulp.

Most of the time I am happy. I speak charmingly but when I lie I raise my voice.  I smile a lot.

People say that Roger and Hammy are fat but they're very nice. Roger and Hammey know that people say that about them but they don't mind.
Roger and Hammy live in apartments - Roger lives  at number 3 and Hammy live at  number 4.  We put a ladder through  the roof, so it is faster to see each other.

Riccarton Bush

Riccarton Bush was fun.  I was in a group with Kate.S and Olive.
We walked around looking at all the cool things. But one of the things I found interesting was this very tall tree, and it was so tal hat I couldn't see the top.

Travis Wetlands

At Travis Wetlands I saw some ducklings as we were walking past.  It kind’ove looked like they came for the photo because once we put the cameras down they went away.  I think they are very playful because they would play around in the mud and hide in the long grass.

Graffiti art

Who here has seen graffiti art?  Not the good kind, the bad kind?
Don’t you think people who do graffiti are kind of wasting their time because it’s just scribbles of their name which look messy and ugly.  It isn't anything really cool or nice to look at. It is also a waste of money.  Instead of scribbling their name they could be doing a nice painting or a cool piece of art instead.

I think graffiti should stop because it is just like scribbling  your name on a piece of paper. Why do people think they should scribble their name on someone else’s wall or fence?  Sometimes I think some people are just doing it to be a show-off in front of their friends. It is also bad because it teaches kids bad things. They might look at it and think it's a fun thing to do.  It makes our neighbourhood and city look ugly.

Most of the bad graffiti I've seen is on walls that lead to parks or on broken-up buildings from the earthquakes.  The broken-up buildings look ugly enough without being covered by graffiti! I also saw a train go past one morning that was covered in gross scribbly graffiti. Did you also know that the scribbling kind of graffiti is illegal?  And it is a waste of money for the people who do it and for the city council.  It is a waste of money because the graffiti artist has to buy all the stuff such as the spray paint and the council has to buy paint to paint over the ugly graffiti.

Some graffiti or street artists are really good and make interesting and beautiful paintings.   Sometimes when I go past one of the good graffiti paintings it makes me stare and think that the person who did it worked really hard. If everyone did good graffiti our city would look a lot nicer and the council wouldn’t need to waste money covering it up.
